Full job description

The MacDuffie School seeks a part-time (0.8 FTE) Visual Arts Teacher for an immediate start.

Candidates should be skilled in teaching middle school and upper school and support a diverse student body.

Course load includes Visual Arts for Grades 6, 7, & 8, introductory Upper School course, and Upper School Visual Art classes: Arts in Perspective (intro), Art Studio 1 & 2, Painting & Drawing, Portfolio I, II, and III. Other duties include maintaining the online gallery, planning 1-2 field trips per year, and producing the annual student art show.

Applicants should be motivated to teach students the principles of art and guide students in creating their own artwork. Seeking an individual with strong organizational skills, passion, and a fabulous attitude. Our Arts Department includes Dance, Music, Theater & Visual Arts - with the 4 programs working together whenever possible. Our faculty is deeply committed to the entire student experience; it is expected that faculty responsibilities will include student advising. Participation in extra-curricular activities, such as coaching, is optional and encouraged.

Ideal candidates are expected to have 3 years or more of teaching experience and a bachelor’s degree (a master’s degree is preferred).
