Essential Job Duties
The University Library Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining the quality of data and metadata, designing and managing databases, and optimizing technical workflows within the Data Projects & Partnerships (DPP) unit of the Acquisitions & Discovery (A&D) department. This position ensures the accuracy and reliability of the Libraries’ discovery and financial systems by overseeing a range of responsibilities, including advanced technical support for the Serials and Monographs Units (covering reporting and data management), authority control processes, the PeopleSoft voucher process, and account reconciliation across vendors, the integrated library system (ILS), and PeopleSoft. Additionally, the Specialist is responsible for budget management, as well as providing database and troubleshooting support for the department.
The Specialist also facilitates and manages data-related partnerships and projects, offering metadata consulting and technical support across various library departments. This role extends to occasional collaboration with external parties, such as faculty or other campus entities, in partnership with teams like Organizational Strategy and the Library Impact Analysis team. Responsibilities include project facilitation and management, coordinating and communicating timelines, collaborating with multiple stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise, and providing training on new tools or workflows as needed.
