Description:
The LAS Operations Training Specialist II primary responsibility is to prepare, facilitate, and perform training for new and existing LAS team members, as well as equipment users. This role is crucial in ensuring that all team members are adequately trained and that their competencies are successfully met. To achieve this, you will be required to shadow our equipment service team to expand your knowledge and stay informed of day-to-day expectations. Furthermore, this role will be responsible for creating learning plans, training material, and mentoring trainers. Lastly, this role will need to complete assigned competencies and end-user-proficiency assessments for learners and file all training documentation appropriately.
Essential Duties
include but are not limited to the following:
- Schedule, communicate, and lead technical training classes.
- Identify and adapt training style to meet learner needs.
- Build strong customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions such as customized classroom instruction, in-lab coaching, hands-on/on-the-job instruction, virtual training, and other modalities, as needed.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training.
- Respond to technical questions or seek guidance if answers are unknown.
- Assist in retraining employees, as needed.
- Help develop the training expertise, behavior, mindsets, and skillsets of team members.
- Collaborate with other trainers cross-functionally.
- Assist in creating, editing, and maintaining training materials or process documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of training in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

- Work with the equipment service team to schedule a time to shadow different service events.

- Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 50% of a typical day.
- Ability to travel 15% of the working time away from work location, which may include overnight/weekend travel.
- Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
- Ability and means to travel between Madison locations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (e.g., mechanical, electrical, industrial), Training and Development, or field related to the essential duties of the job; or Associate degree and 2 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.
- 5+ years of experience as a technical trainer, corporate trainer, or related training experience.
- Strong understanding of instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, technical, and/or hands-on/on-the-job training.
- Demonstrated ability to identify trainee needs and tailor training plan to more effectively present material.
- Basic understanding of Lean Six Sigma problem-solving methodology.
- Strong computer skills including internet navigation, user of virtual meeting tools, email usage, word processing, and data/records management.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
