Traffic Engineer

** The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.

• Facilitates the timely preparation and review of various types of traffic plans and special provisions, including signature/approval as a Professional Engineer.

• Coordinates, schedules, and prioritizes the work of traffic office staff to ensure the quality completion of and timely delivery of complete plans as needed by Project Managers and Designers.

• Monitors and manages all consultant work done to assist the traffic office in traffic design related tasks.

• Monitors the ongoing status of various District projects across multiple fiscal years to assess and plan design workloads for traffic staff utilizing the P6 software and schedules to properly set, monitor, or revise project schedules.

• Serve as a liaison to other offices and functional groups by regularly communicating and coordinating with project managers and designers relative to project needs, project changes, project questions, schedule changes, etc. This position provides regular support to District project managers, designers, and other functional areas.

• Support and respond to traffic related construction questions and issues during the project construction phase. Timely responses are important.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify for Engineer Senior, applicants must be licensed as a Professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity. (If obtaining licensure through Comity, a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.)
