Description:
The Turner Free Library is in the process of acquiring a brand new, state-of-the-art bookmobile/STREAM (science, reading, technology, engineering, arts, and math) lab, which the Bookmobile Consultant will help to lay the groundwork for in terms of policies and marketing.
Duties:
- Research best practices and contact other public libraries offering bookmobile services in Massachusetts and nationally
- Liaise with Library and consortium staff to develop a comprehensive plan for acquiring, cataloging, and labeling the bookmobile collection
- Draft a wide range of documentation including but not limited to:
- Internal documentation establishing the guidelines for arranging a site visit, scheduling the use of the vehicle, indicating what materials are in use on the vehicle, etc
- Policies for patron use of the vehicle, including additions to existing policies such as the Appropriate Library Use Policy, etc
- Memorandum of understanding templates for community partners to establish site visit requirements
- Draft a collection development plan for the bookmobile’s initial core collection, with a particular focus on titles for elementary and middle school students, senior citizens, and materials in Haitian Creole, French, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Spanish
- Draft marketing materials for the bookmobile, including social media graphics as well as promotional items such as clothing, stickers, etc
- Work with a high degree of independence, meet all established deadlines, and communicate effectively with Library staff
Qualifications:
- Excellent writing skills are required
- Experience with Canva and Photoshop is preferred
