Teen Art And Digital Media Facilitator

 

Description:

Teen Art & Digital Media Facilitator position works with the Youth Initiatives Division in the Sue Ling Gin Education and Public Programs Department. It will report to the Senior Manager of Youth Initiatives and Digital Media Studio.This position will work closely with the Art and Digital Media Coordinator in the Youth Initiatives division co-facilitating and co-developing digital media, scientific illustration, and arts programming for teen programs including After School Matters.

Working under the guidance of the Art and Digital Media Coordinator, the facilitator will participate in curriculum development and provide logistical support to After School Matters programming. They will work with Chicagoland teens who participate in the Digital Media track of programs offered in partnership with After School Matters. They will join weekly meetings, contribute to the development of the programs, and provide key assistance to the Art and Digital Media Coordinator for administrative components of this work.

Qualified applicants will have Experience in digital media and art but not necessarily enrolled in an arts-related degree program. Those with Experience in the social sciences, teaching in formal or informal settings, youth development, or program evaluation are encouraged to apply.

Preferred skills and experiences:

  • Experience with working with teens and young adults with a strong desire for teen and young adult development
  • Understanding of working with Digital Media programs such as Procreate and the Adobe Suite
  • Experience in graphic design, art, and multimedia
  • Experience with giving and receiving formal and informal critique and feedback on art from peers
  • Understanding of, if not experience working in a cultural institution or organization
  • An interest in youth public engagement and programming
  • Confident, engaging, and compelling classroom and public speaker
  • Familiarity with non-profits, museums, and museum education practices
  • Able to synthesize content into compelling, audience-centered experiences for audiences of diverse ages, interests, and motivations
  • Exceptional communicator with outstanding written, organizational, analytical, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented; excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking
  • High level of initiative and exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills and self-awareness required
  • Must demonstrate comfort in a team environment with strong collaboration skills

 

Qualifications

  • Experience managing educational and/or public programs in museums, libraries, or a related humanities/informal learning field
  • Demonstrated Experience in the development of innovative programming for out-of-
  • school time, family, school, and public audiences
  • Well-developed commitment to collaborative leadership and the ability to manage and grow a team’s skills
  • Demonstrated Experience welcoming, valuing, and engaging positively with people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as supporting and promoting an environment that welcomes differences and diversity
