Technical Energy Advisor

 

Description:

This 3–6 month contract role offers an excellent opportunity to lead and support technical consulting engagements in energy storage (batteries), AI-driven analytics, and/or advanced energy generation (solar, nuclear, wind). You will work closely with senior leadership to deliver cutting-edge solutions, manage multi-disciplinary projects, and mentor junior team members. Outstanding performance may lead to a full-time position at the end of the contract.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Advisory & Project Leadership

  • Scope, plan, and execute consulting projects related to battery systems, AI/ML integration, or advanced energy generation technologies.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, deliverables, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful outcomes.

 

AI & Analytics Integration

  • Collaborate with internal data science and engineering teams to design and implement AI/ML solutions for process optimization, predictive maintenance, or energy forecasting.
  • Develop analytical models and dashboards to inform client decision-making on performance, cost, and sustainability metrics.

 

Energy Generation & Storage Solutions

  • Provide expertise on topics such as battery chemistry, grid integration, renewable/nuclear/wind generation, and related engineering processes.
  • Lead feasibility studies, techno-economic analyses, and systems modeling for large-scale power or storage projects.

 

Collaboration & Thought Leadership

  • Work directly with clients to identify pain points and deliver customized recommendations, ensuring alignment with Scharf Energy’s values of authenticity and transparency.
  • Publish whitepapers, participate in webinars, or speak at conferences to showcase industry leadership.

 

Mentorship & Team Development

  • Provide guidance and coaching to junior consultants and analysts on technical methodologies and professional development.
  • Cultivate a collaborative environment that promotes continuous learning and innovation.

 

Client Engagement & Business Development

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for strategic clients, responding to new opportunities, drafting proposals/SOWs, and nurturing long-term relationships.
  • Partner with marketing and leadership teams to identify and pursue growth opportunities within the clean energy and advanced technology sectors.

 

 

 

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Analyst Level: Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Business Management, Energy Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, AI/Data Science, or Nuclear Engineering.
  • Consultant Level: Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field such as Energy Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, AI/Data Science, or Nuclear Engineering.

 

Technical Expertise:

  • Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following:

- Energy Storage (battery R&D, manufacturing, or deployment)

- AI/ML (development of predictive models, digital twin, advanced analytics)

- Energy Generation (solar, nuclear, wind project design, or operations)

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) and familiarity with modeling/analysis tools.

 

Consulting & Project Management Skills:

  • Proven track record managing complex projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to break down technical problems, communicate solutions effectively, and ensure on-time/budget delivery.

 

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Aptitude for building client relationships and presenting complex topics to diverse audiences.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Notion for project management, documentation, and team collaboration.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy policy and incentive programs (e.g., IRA, PTC/ITC).
  • Experience mentoring or managing junior staff.
  • Track record of authoring technical publications or speaking at industry conferences.
  • Knowledge of supply chain optimization, digital manufacturing (MES/SCADA), or regulatory compliance within energy-related fields.
