The College of Applied Humans Sciences at West Virginia University is seeking applicants for a faculty position in the School of Sport Sciences. This position is a Teaching Assistant or Associate Professor for the Morgantown campus to begin August 2025.

The School of Sport Sciences serves approximately 1,400 students across 13-degree programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels in sport management, sport, exercise, and performance psychology, sport leadership, coaching and performance science, health and well-being, and physical education and kinesiology.

The School of Sport Sciences mission focuses on conducting and disseminating high quality research, preparing students to be leaders and innovators in their fields, and enhancing the quality of life for the residents of the state and beyond through outreach efforts. We are looking for highly qualified individuals who can contribute to this mission.

Appointment

August 15, 2025. Faculty hired at the Teaching Assistant/Associate Professor is a nine-month appointment and promotion to senior ranks is possible. Additional teaching opportunities are available.

Responsibilities

Candidate will be expected to:

• Effectively teach online and in-person courses in physical education and school/community health in bachelor’s, master’s, and/or doctoral programs.
• Lead the student-teaching experience and year-long residency program.
• Provide programmatic service that supports student recruitment, retention, and success.
