The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is seeking a dedicated and innovative individual to join our team as a Teacher and School Partnership Coordinator.

We are seeking a passionate and innovative individual to be a part of a dynamic and dedicated team of educators to build and foster strategic partnerships and relationships with schools and K-12 teachers.

In this role you will:

Engage Educators by exploring interdisciplinary connections between original works of art and their place in the world.

Develop innovative programs, services, and resources for educators and students that center VMFA's collections and Special Exhibitions and align with Virginia Public Schools’ Standards of Learning.

Utilize technology, including VMFA’s educational resource website, Learn, to effectively reach a wide audience both on campus and throughout Virginia.

In support of VMFA’s commitment to increase the acquisition of works of art by African American artists, VMFA’s Teacher and School Partnership Coordinator will make African American Art an area of focus, developing relevant interdisciplinary educational resources for K-12 students, educators, and families as well as all audiences outlined VMFA's 2021-2025 Strategic Plan.

This role will collaborate across VMFA departments on the following responsibilities:

Conceptualizing a yearly menu of teacher programs. Ensuring program topics and content align with school curriculum, emerging pedagogy, and showcase VMFA's collection, including strategic collection areas outlined in VMFA’s 2021-2025 Strategic Plan.

Participating in Interpretation projects related to African American exhibitions and permanent collection content.

Evaluating programs using data to improve content, delivery, and future program marketing.

Staying up to date with teacher programs offered by other organizations for competitive pricing, programming, and marketing ideas.

Chairing and managing the VMFA Teacher Advisory Committee.

Assisting in the development of a yearly plan for online resource production, and K-12 tour offerings, focusing on African American art and other audiences outlined in VMFA's strategic plan.

Building a network with teachers, schools, and administrators in multiple disciplines, attending conferences as permitted.

Coordinating accurate registration for teacher programs, managing expenses and budget, and following procurement policies.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's degree required.
At least two to four (2-4) years' experience in teaching or museum education.
