Do you have a passion for researching and interpreting tax laws and regulations? Securian Financial is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to join our team of tax professionals to develop and implement tax strategy to pay the minimum amount of taxes while adhering to Securian's risk appetite. This role also works with federal and state examiners to obtain the lowest possible assessment. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Provide thorough and well-reasoned research and analysis for the development of tax efficient corporate acquisitions, dispositions, reorganizations and other corporate transactions. Coordinate tax return compliance with other tax team members.Perform due diligence by reviewing applicable agreements and contracts for tax matters in acquisitions and divestitures.Provide research, analysis and conclusions in support of Securian's material return filing positions. Identify opportunities for tax savings where applicable and assess relevant authority.Develop and apply tax technical expertise in areas relevant to a large financial services organization, including financial instruments, derivatives/hedging, insurance, and international tax.Assist with drafting responses to IRS inquiries and coordinate collection of relevant data for IRS audits and Appeals.Interpret new and existing tax laws to ensure compliance by Securian's strategic affiliates, as well as advise them on federal and state tax effects of new operations. Qualifications: Experience performing tax research and drafting well-reasoned analysis and conclusions of moderate to complex federal corporate income tax issues.Broad-based knowledge of federal tax law, especially as it relates to corporate consolidated taxpayers with a diverse organizational structure.Analytical/creative and critical thinking skills to develop ideas that result in lower taxes for the Enterprise and its subsidiaries.Initiative and independence to prioritize projects and meet deadlines.Ability to collaborate with others to identify opportunities and implement results.
