Moss Adams Private Client Advisory practice (PCA) is looking for a dynamic Tax Managing Director with an Estate and Gift background to join our team. Our team is aligned to serve closely held businesses and their owners, ultra-high net worth individuals, and their multi-generational families. Responsibilities

  • Guide clients through complex estate planning scenarios to meet their personal, family, and business goals and facilitate the effective transfer of wealth
  • Research and consult on tax matters, primarily in the federal estate, gift, charitable planning, and generation skipping tax arenas
  • Provide quality control reviews of tax returns, planning, research, and compliance within area(s) of expertise
  • Determine appropriate tax objectives, scope and methodology and actively participate in decision making with clients to understand the broader impact of current decisions on their overall estate plan, while always sustaining excellent client relationships
  • Develop and execute a business plan which includes networking, new client development and client expansion activities. Active sales team member or pursuit leader for new and existing client sales opportunities
  • Serve as the primary engagement manager with economic responsibilities for billing, realization, and collections
  • Interact closely with client’s other advisors including other Moss Adams professionals, outside attorneys, and other external financial managers
  • Effectively leverage available technology and other resources to maximize technical application to client deliverables and other projects and holds the engagement team to the same standard, providing technical guidance in the areas of Estate, Gift & Trust tax issues
  • Evaluate skills and develop Directors, Senior Managers, Managers, Seniors and Staff in client engagement management and technical expertise in federal estate, gift, charitable planning, and generational skipping tax arenas
  • Lead or participate in the development of technical content like internal education, webinars, articles, and podcasts within area(s) of expertise.
  • Leverage technical expertise across the firm’s tax practice through people development, internal communications, firm training, and support QC policies background to assist on all tasks associated with tax engagements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required; Master's degree in Taxation preferred
  • CPA or Bar License required
  • Minimum of 13 years of related experience in areas of estate tax, fiduciary income tax, estate planning, and trust administration
  • Experience with corporate, S-corporation, and partnership taxation. Subject matter expert in corporate, partnership, individual and trust and estate taxation required; prior experience in Private Client working with high-net-worth individuals and owners of closely held businesses preferred
  • Proven market facing skills required to develop new business and sustain existing excellent client relationships. Must have visibility and recognition within your industry specialization and in your local market
  • Presentation skills and strong organizational techniques are required. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Success managing multiple client engagements in addition to completing tasks related to business development
  • Energetic with team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to travel as needed, approximately 5%
