Sybase Sme

Description:

We are seeking a Sybase SME with a strong Linux background to support a data center migration project. The ideal candidate will be responsible for automation, server builds, performance tuning, and database administration using SAP ASE/Sybase, Redis, and PostGres. This role requires an innovative thinker, a team player, and someone who can automate processes efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
✔ Manage and optimize SAP ASE/Sybase databases
✔ Work with Redis and PostGres (a plus)
✔ Automate tasks using Ansible, Python, and/or Shell scripting
✔ Ensure performance tuning and optimization of databases
✔ Collaborate on server builds and automation for a data center migration
✔ Work exclusively in a Linux environment (no Windows databases)
✔ Think critically to enhance efficiency and speed up migration

Must-Have Skills:
✔ 5-7 years of experience in database administration
✔ Expertise in Sybase (SAP ASE)
✔ Strong Linux expertise (no Windows databases)
✔ Automation scripting (Ansible, Python, Shell)
✔ Performance tuning and database optimization
✔ Strong communication skills and a team-player mentality

Nice-to-Have Skills:
✔ Bachelor’s degree in a related field
✔ Experience in financial services
✔ Knowledge of Veritas Clustering

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
✔ Support data center migration and server automation
✔ Identify efficiencies and improvements in migration processes
✔ Ensure database performance, availability, and reliability

Additional Notes:
✔ This is not a developer role—we are seeking DBAs
✔ Looking for stable candidates (short-term job hoppers are discouraged)
✔ Work will be focused on the eTrade side
