Supervising Appraiser

Description:

Contra Costa County is one of the largest employers in the area offering multiple career opportunities in public service. The Contra Costa County Assessor’s Office discovers and assesses all property within the County; produces and delivers an assessment roll by July 1 of each year; values all real property; audits all entities doing business in the County and values all taxable personal property; establishes and maintains a set of 11,000 maps for assessment purposes; delineates every parcel of land in the County; and provides a public information service to assist taxpayers with questions about property ownership and assessment.

As a Supervising Appraiser, you will typically be responsible for:

• Reviewing work completed by appraisers for conformity to appraisal theory, the Revenue and Taxation Code, and office procedures
• Planning and presenting Assessment Appeals before the Assessment Appeals Board
• Training and providing direction to staff
• Responding to taxpayers and their representatives
• Performing the most difficult and complex high-value appraisals
