Responsibilities:

Strategic, Management & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Direct the daily functions of studio, ensuring high performance through the implementation of operational, staffing, organizational and professional development best practices.
  • Drive a culture of excellence empowering the team to consistently meet and exceed quality expectations of clients and client partners.
  • Create and promote a culture that values talent, collaboration, autonomy and accountability where every contributor strives to elevate these standards over time, driving the performance of the entire team.
  • Develop, coach and mentor direct reports through formal and informal feedback.
  • Partner with Cella Account Director to determine and implement team building, acknowledgement and inspirational programs.
  • Conduct performance reviews and manage top-grading practices.
  • Provide strategic business advice and insights on best business practices to client-side upper management.
  • Ensure team is compliant with all client branding, operational, legal and regulatory mandates, policies and guidelines.

Operations Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and act on opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Assist in the assessment, design and implementation of group processes, organizational structure, policies and procedures best suited to the needs of the department, the department's internal clients, and the greater corporation as a whole.
  • Ensure the studio reports on and meets all required financial mandates.
  • Manage resourcing by leveraging the flexible staffing model.
  • Capture and analyze studio metrics on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Organize and lead monthly studio operations meetings.
  • Organize and lead studio quarterly business review meetings.
  • Maintain high utilization of the contracted resources by managing overtime and the use of flexible staff to cost effectively meet department needs.
  • Ensure that all contract employees are on-boarded and receive the tools/training needed to begin their engagement.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper job intake-that project scopes are clearly defined with proper job specifications, estimates and timelines.
  • Identify and align key resources to execute on the business needs while adhering to clearly defined utilization metrics & expectations.
  • Evaluate and recommend new hardware and software that will keep department on the leading edge of design and content production.
  • Ensure all delivery dates are met, revisions are handled in allotted number of review rounds, kept in-scope and key stakeholders are brought in at the correct points in time to review the work as necessary.
  • Lead account management and project management strategy, initiation and execution within the studio.
  • Partner with Cella consultant to perform needs analysis activities and related services strategy planning.

Qualifications:

  • BA in design, communications or related field of study from an accredited college or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 15 years of creative, communications and/or marketing services experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in-house/corporate creative or communications department management experience.
  • In-house agency experience.
  • External agency experience desired.
  • Large team experience preferred.
  • Oil and gas industry knowledge a plus.
  • Strong people management skills and ability to coach, mentor and develop staff.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to apply strategic thinking to all business challenges and opportunities.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally collaborate and interact with team peers, clients, interdepartmental colleagues and high-level executives in a professional and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Must possess excellent understanding of project management best business practices.
  • Ability to identify and implement effective and efficient creative project workflows.
  • Ability to design and restructure team organization to meet business needs.
  • Ability to understand and articulate studio finances.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and negotiate project management roadblocks on specific jobs.
