Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the undergraduate Office of Student Academic Services, under the supervision of the Senior Director.
  • Conducts research on the method and delivery of all student services and makes recommendations to the Senior Director as needed.
  • Responsible for the scheduling assignments of all OSAS personnel in order to meet the needs of the students.
  • Serves as the first line of support to effectively handle student questions and to resolve student issues using professional judgement. Makes appropriate referrals as necessary.
  • Authorized to update all student official records and maintain these records in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Serves as the point of contact for all inquiries regarding admission, graduation, and related student services.
  • Manages all electronic and hard copy student information and direct marketing including the OSAS bi-weekly newsletter, website, and bulletin board under the direction of the Senior Director.
  • Responsible for the process of maintaining the College website for course articulations from international partner universities, to support 100+ students who annually participate in the College's International Exchange program.
  • Assists with conducting informational meetings for students, including off campus sites, intra-state and the Continental U.S. Meetings may take place during nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Creates and facilitates initiatives that support underrepresented students at the College.
  • Serves as primary Advisor for a caseload for approximately 200-300 business students from admission through graduation.
  • Provides information to assist student academic progress and the impact on degree seeking goals, including progress checks, graduation checks, and taking appropriate institutional action.
  • Establishes and maintains regular communication with majors via email and other means to facilitate access to research, scholarships, internships, employment, and other opportunities for students, through graduation.
  • Keeps abreast with UH Curriculum changes and academic information important to undergraduate students
  • Serves as a liaison to the various internal/external agencies (Admission/Records, Registrars, Cashiers, Academic departments, etc.) to resolve and/or assist in resolving any student issues, concerns or problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration, Counseling, Psychology, or related field and 3 year(s) or progressively professional experience with responsibilities for student academic services; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  • Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques in student academic services as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
  • Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with student academic services.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  • For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and travel intra-state and to the Continental U.S. as needed.
