Duties and Responsibilities:
ACADEMIC SUCCESS PROGRAMS
- Oversee the development, implementation, and assessment of grant-funded programs and services designed to foster Native Hawaiian student success.
- Serve as overall administrator for extramural grant programs facilita.ng early intervention including college going awareness and exploration; assessment and experiences for college readiness; career awareness and preparation requiring post-secondary education; academic preparation, reinforcement & support through tutoring and instructional skills development; summer bridge programs, and ongoing first year support.
- Promote programs, activities, and services that support and encourage students to engage, incorporate, and integrate Native Hawaiian epistemology and ‘ike in academic instruction, co-curricular programming, campus facility development, etc.
- Enhance professional development opportunities related to community partnerships, diverse learners, and Native Hawaiian culture and knowledge and infuse Native Hawaiian knowledge, practices, and values into the college academic programs and student services to enhance the experience of Native Hawaiian students.
- Collaborate on efforts to increase Native Hawaiian student engagement, retention, and graduation rates.
- Coordinate cultural connections and foster the integration of students into the campus community and environment to increase student retention.
- Develop purposeful educational experiences that link academic learning to Native Hawaiian traditional practices and cultural ways of knowing, thus linking academic and social connectedness, and promo.ng a sense of belonging.
- Advise and mentor students and oversee student peer mentors and student employees for student success.
ADMINISTRATIVE AND OPERATIONAL SERVICES
- Coordinate grant deliverables and adherence to grant regulations, including writing evaluation reports, garnering institutional support, overseeing fiscal grant spending, and maintaining transparent communication.
- Work with campus community, external constituencies, community groups, and other institutions of higher education to promote grant activities and leverage support for ongoing grant activities.
- Maintain adherence to project timelines, project objectives, and performance measures related to grant goals.
- Work with campus community on the day-to-day development, implementation, and coordination of project activities.
- Maintain documentation of educational programs related to grant goals and objectives through the collection, maintenance, and analysis of data to evaluate the effectiveness of such programs.
- Maintain a student management data system to track student progress and retention.
- Oversee and direct interviewing, selecting, coaching, supervising, and evaluating student peer mentors, student assistants, and others.
- Develop, implement, interpret, and revise as needed, appropriate policies and operational procedures related to project initiatives, working closely with others to review and evaluate such policies and procedures.
