Student Assistant

 

Description:

This is a student position responsible for assisting in the creative work in support of the Division of University Marketing Communications. Designs university marketing emails using the division’s email building tool. Reports to the Email Campaigns Specialist, University Marketing Communications.

Job Duties

1. Designs email communications to be sent to various audiences.

2. Works collaboratively within a communications and marketing team.

3. Adjusts, corrects and artistically manipulates emails to amplify messaging and call to action.

4. Provides daily project status reports to supervisor.

5. Assists in file and records maintenance.

6. Assists in the preparation and implementation of departmental project/program activities.

7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

1. Knowledge of professional standards related to areas of specialization, including the concepts used in marketing copy and graphic design.

2. Knowledge of general office and clerical procedures and concepts.

3. Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records and files.

4. Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.

5. Ability to understand and follow instructions.

Required Qualifications

The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.

No direct experience is required. Further training and instruction will be provided.

Preferred Qualifications

Graphic design experience is preferred.

Physical Demands

1. May need to carry camera or tech equipment.

2. May be required to visit various locations on campus.

Special Conditions for Eligibility

A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.

Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
