Stem Education Facilitators

 

Description:

The main duty of these positions is to deliver presentations and programs to a variety of audiences in several types of settings (e.g., on the road, come-and-go demonstrations, and pop-up floor activities). Reporting directly to the Education Director, the STEM Education Facilitators are responsible for implementing a full range of interpretive educational programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Delivers education-based programs and presentations that may include the demonstration of historical equipment and processes involving the operation of machinery; hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) interactives and demonstrations; use of historical exhibit components; use of electronic devices such as tablets; group and tour facilitation; and other activities as needed.
  • Assists in Research and Development of new educational programming for children in grades K-8.
  • Maintains appropriate appearance and operation of the daily work site and performs simple maintenance tasks, preparation of the space, clean-up, and other duties as needed.
  • Ensures the safety of guests and staff.
  • Helps protect Museum artifacts, structures, and landscapes from damage.
  • Regularly communicates operational problems and issues with other department members and contributes to the review and evaluation of departmental programming.
  • Continues to learn, synthesize, and deliver new content through self-preparation and memorization.
  • Takes and follows instructions and adheres to all policies and procedures as outlined in the OHTM Employee Handbook.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in meeting unexpected staff changes in assignments or filling in for a coworker.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a sometimes unstructured work environment.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be over 18 years of age.
  • Experienced in working with the public.
  • Punctual and can be depended upon to meet the agreed-upon schedule.
  • Weekdays, weekend, evening, and holiday availability required. Must be available for special OHTM Event dates as posted in advance.
  • Compliant with uniform and clothing guidelines.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
