Description:
This role will work with the Education team to enhance the educational programs and the overall museum experience of visitors and students by helping them ignite their creative imaginations. STEAM Education Specialists design and implement curriculum for workshops, our onsite Leo On Wheels program, public programs, summer camps, and more! Our ideal candidate is full of wonder and enjoys experimenting and exploring the world. Their outgoing nature and passion will help all students and visitors engage with STEAM concepts.
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 7am - 3pm (40 hours/week)
- Location: Onsite The Leonardo and also schools as needed
- Reports to: Education Manager

WHAT YOU’LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
- Design, document, run, and evaluate hands-on and inventive workshop curriculum, floor demonstrations, and programs
- Train Education Facilitators on curriculum and providing feedback and mentorship
- Develop, teach, and train on summer camp curriculum in collaboration with community partners
- Coordinate and run field trips, including liaising between teachers and museum staff and ensuring a smooth and engaging student experience
- Assist with curriculum design and running of museum educational programs such as teacher professional development, Spooktacular, Mind Riot, Girls Who Code, etc.
- Teach science outreach in schools for Leo on Wheels (LOW); Includes designing and evaluating curriculum, and traveling to schools across Utah and presenting engaging exhibits on-site to students; Will usually entail driving the company van to the schools and teaching in a classroom setting
- Cultivate positive relationships with school staff and local communities
- Handle data entry and management to evaluate the success of programs and initiatives
- Engage museum visitors on the museum floor and assisting with the opening and closing of the museum and exhibits as needed
- Help to maintain and clean education supplies and spaces
- Design and run community outreach events with partners
- Participate in and help facilitate Teacher Professional Development programs
- Complete tasks and goals pertaining to Education department and assist other departments as directed by the Education Manager
