Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Staff Curator (Museum Management) working with collections and/or exhibits. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Demonstrating a high degree of knowledge in 1) Managing loans for a Museum collection performing duties such as loan agreements, inventory, storage, shipping/handling. 2) Ensuring accountability of artwork under your purview; 3) Conducting independent research and/or extensive research on aspects of museum collections and planning of exhibits4) Communicating orally and in writing on subjects related to museum curation, management, or artwork; 5) Perform or supervise in the planning and development of special projects or exhibits. 6) Perform duties related to the inventory and conservation of items in a collection.

Education

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess

  • Degree: museum work; or in an applicable subject-matter field. (History, art history, etc)

    or

Combination of education and experience

  • - courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

    or

  • Four years of experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study as shown in A above.
