Steelcase is hiring a Project Manager, Product Development to work in a world class innovation center leading a creative team with a wide range of skills to bring new products to the global marketplace. Your role is to ensure that these teams can operate effectively with an entrepreneurial spirit and a positive culture. As a self-directed leader you will initiate, plan, organize, and lead multiple new product development projects from business case and conception through market introduction to achieve strategic objectives for business groups.

Who you are:

You are a project leader who leads project teams by enabling and encouraging team members to achieve project objectives and milestones. You work with functional leaders to initiate and plan projects based on business priorities and development team capacity. In addition to daily project leadership you also lead project planning efforts within budget planning cycles.

You influence and obtain buy-in from business leaders through decision making reviews that address business case metrics, customer considerations, project priorities, budget, timing, and resources. Your excellent financial acumen is necessary to support business goals.

You excel at defining project scope and objectives, aligning all relevant stakeholders, and ensuring feasibility. As a project leader you protect the scope from changes that don't significantly improve the business results.

You creatively and analytically resolve project problems by demonstrating teamwork, ability to lead leaders, diplomacy, innovation, and excellence. You also proactively mitigate potential risks and create contingency plans.

Your process skills allow you to find, implement, and socialize improvement opportunities and best practices. You update the product development process and apply improvements to future projects.

Communication is your forte and you demonstrate a strong capability to communicate to technical and non-technical project team members and all stakeholders, using written and verbal skills. You take complex problems and describe them in straightforward terms along with sound recommendations and rationale. As a communicator you excel at the basics of reporting, tracking, planning, executing, and monitoring the project schedule, budget, and resources. You also manage the critical path, provide forecasts, and ensure accountability for resolution of key issues.

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in a product development related field is preferred

Minimum of five years of professional experience is preferred

Product development experience or applicable professional experience is preferred
