Description:
The Sr. Product Designer's role at Bleacher Report is comprised of determining the functionality of the User Experience with the end user in mind. This involves taking a careful look at the industry as a whole, understanding existing paradigms, and creating new ones where innovative solutions are paving a new path. This role is critical in marrying user expectation with business expectation to drive consumption from the user in the pursuit of generating revenue for the business in a win-win scenario. The Sr. Product Designer is also responsible for understanding the core functionality of how a given feature works and proposing solutions that are buildable by the development team. The role seeks to determine goals from stakeholders across product, sales/advertising, marketing, technology, analytics, research, customer service, as well as other team members, and provide user-facing solutions that create a seemingly seamless experience that is both profitable and enjoyable. A Sr. Product Designer is also responsible for the final visual design output of all the products.
Your Role Accountabilities...
Wireframes – Created for Product Managers, UI Designers, Developers, Sales, Marketing and beyond, wireframes are a schematic used to capture and convey all needs from all stakeholders into a single document. Tools used include Sketch and Figma.
Prototypes – Used to demonstrate the user flow in a more realistic manner, which allows for critical questions to be asked by the team, including from Product, other Designers, Developers, Sales, Leadership, and beyond. Tools for this include (but are not limited to) Invision and Figma.
Visual Design – Static mocks that will become the actual interface of the app or website within a product or feature. Mocks must account for every edge case and state that could possibly occur within the product. The mocks are annotated to pass on to Engineers, who will use these visual guides to build the product. Figma is the primary tool used to create static mocks.
User Flows – Diagrams that are static and demonstrate the possible paths a user may take within a product or feature. User flows provide the expected outcome from any given user action and allow for easier conversation with technical counterparts to determine backend calls required for the experience, thus creating more accurate estimates for project timelines and completion. Figma and Lucidchart are the primary tools.
User Research – Critical in determining whether the product or feature being developed is viable or usable, user research promotes deeper understanding and checks assumptions made by the UX, UI, and Product Management team. It shows the potential for product differentiators and gives immediate feedback that can prevent revenue loss and promote revenue gain if acted upon. Primary tool is UserTesting.
Design System Management – This is a series of parts that streamlines the process of product development by providing a cohesive library of tools and how they are used. This library is referenced by Product, Development, and UX to determine how to build a new feature the most effectively to cut down on time and cost. The primary tool for this is Figma.
Ideation Facilitation – UX is the role that generally facilitates expansive brainstorming or ideation meetings using a variety of methodologies. Stakeholders from literally any part of the business are asked to join in ideation sessions. Coming out of an ideation session, typically the Product Management team has determined which course of action to take for the best chance of success, and concerns from all across the business have been accounted for. Primary tool used is Mural.
