Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Design and create high-quality print and digital materials from initial concept to completion. Materials include ads, banners, booklets, certificates, displays, emails, event collateral, folders, plaques, postcards, presentations, signage, social media graphics, web graphics, webcast graphics, etc.
Serve as a lead designer for social media graphics across platforms, pitching, storyboarding, and designing visual assets—including assets needed for paid advertising campaigns on these networks, working closely with the school’s social media and content strategy teams.
Lead visual communication efforts for the Office of External Affairs' Development and Alumni Relations teams by designing ads, reports, postcards, folders, plaques, event collateral, booklets, emails, social media graphics, web graphics, and more.
Assist in supporting the Dean’s Office by designing publications and other visual communications including the school’s strategic plan booklets, letters, and various PowerPoint presentations.
Assist with the art direction and production of the Hopkins Bloomberg Public Health magazine including creative input, producing and sourcing visuals, sourcing and contracting freelance illustrators and photographers, and providing design feedback and advice.
Work directly with clients to manage project needs, scope, goals, schedule, budget, milestones, review process, and approval.
Consult with internal and external stakeholders to determine communication goals, scope, audiences, and outcomes and recommend the most appropriate communication tactics, concepts, and deliverables to meet their needs.
Collaborate with stakeholders, clients, and various cross-functional internal teams to brainstorm, design, develop, present, and deliver compelling, impactful design solutions.
Work directly with various external vendors including communications firms, design studios, freelancers, photographers, printers, production companies, specialty companies, and others overseeing key aspects such as estimates, invoices, production, reviews, proofs, press checks, final approval/sign-off, and delivery.
Collaborate with the Director of Audience Engagement and Marketing Manager to create effective ads on various print and digital platforms.
Play an integral role in creating, evolving, maintaining, and reinforcing the School and University's strong global brand across social media accounts, podcasts, websites, newsletters, signage, and other communication deliverables, and communicate guidelines to others to help them apply and adhere to the guidelines.
Support the web team by sourcing a variety of imagery from photoshoots and stock subscriptions and by producing key graphics for webpages.
Work within the office’s project management system and approach, ensuring deadlines are met, information is maintained in the project management system, and liaison with other project team members or leads is maintained.
Assist with conceptualizing photoshoots, sourcing, selecting, and art directing photographers, and elevating our quality of photography across all mediums.
Collaborate with design team colleagues to upload, maintain, and distribute visual assets in Photo Shelter, the Office of External Affairs’ digital asset management system. Establish and execute an office-wide, permanent file naming and convention system, upload photos, add relevant keywords, and assist others in using the online tool.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in fine arts, graphic design, or related field.
Four year's experience and a portfolio.
