Sr Electrical Engineer

Our St. Louis Park, MN manufacturing client has an immediate need for a Sr. Electrical Engineer. The ideal candidate for this role is a proactive self-starter capable of taking a project from concept to full implementation. In this position, you'll collaborate with various cross-functional teams within the organization.

You'll be part of the Electrical Engineering department, reporting directly to the Program Manager for the group. Your responsibilities will encompass the design, development, documentation, and validation of new electronic products for the residential windows and door market. Additionally, you'll work on modifying existing electronic product families, defining requirements, timelines, and deliverables. Your focus will be on design verification, compliance testing/certification, supplier relations, product sustainment, and the manufacturing transfer of existing products.

Job Responsibilities
 

  • Support all phases of new electronics platforms ranging from concept and technology development through commercialization.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities, technologies, services, and their ability to deliver required products or services in a timely manner.
  • Provide work direction to other members of the engineering staff and development teams.
  • Provide project management direction.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and partners to speed up product development and testing.
  • Define and support internal and external environmental testing.
  • Lead design reviews, ensure product requirements are met, ensure engineering intent is maintained, and risks are mitigated prior to release for tooling and production.
  • Create related documentation and support materials in conjunction with design and development activities.
  • Be a hands-on technical resource for mechanical, electrical and software engineering teams by contributing to design ideas, problem solving and leading by example.
  • Provide task estimates in support of projects and provide significant input to new proposals.
  • Serve as a mentor to other engineering staff.
     

Desired Skills And Qualifications
 

  • Previous Electrical Engineering experience is a must. The ideal candidate should have some of the following qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in a cross functional technical environment
  • Experience in creating, reading, and comprehending schematics and interconnect drawings.
  • Experience developing technical documentation – such as drawings, reports, & technical analysis
  • 4-year STEM degree minimum, M.S. preferred
  • PMP certification is a plus.
  • Must have strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated project planning skills.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills with the ability to draft technical reports.
  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, SharePoint etc.)
  • Experience with Cadence Allegro and/or Altium design tools.
  • Must have experience evaluating, setting up and managing specialized or new suppliers with supply chain implementation for manufacturing.
  • Hands-on prototyping and troubleshooting experience.
  • Good time management skills, has the ability to plan and track multiple tasks throughout a work day.
