Sr. Applications Engineer

 

Description:

Vertiv is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Applications Engineer to support the design, implementation, and technical support of Rack Power Distribution Units (PDUs). This role requires expertise in power distribution solutions, firmware monitoring, and seamless integration with physical infrastructure components. The engineer will collaborate with sales, engineering, and product teams to ensure optimal solutions for clients while maintaining high standards of reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Expertise & Customer Engagement:

✅ Act as a subject matter expert on rack PDU firmware, power configurations, and monitoring.
✅ Provide technical guidance and support to customers, sales teams, and internal departments.
✅ Troubleshoot customer issues related to rack PDUs and ensure smooth operation.

Product Development & Integration Support:

✅ Collaborate with product management teams to define customer requirements and develop specifications.
✅ Work with firmware development teams to guide priorities, timelines, and industry-standard compatibility.
✅ Facilitate the integration of rack PDUs with other infrastructure components such as rack enclosures, cooling systems, and IT equipment.

Solution Design & Technical Documentation:

✅ Assist in customized PDU solution deployment tailored to customer applications.
✅ Develop user manuals, installation guides, and troubleshooting resources for rack PDU solutions.

Training, Testing & Quality Assurance:

✅ Conduct training sessions for internal teams, partners, and clients.
✅ Participate in product testing, validation, and quality assurance to meet rigorous safety and performance standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in applications engineering, specifically in rack PDUs or power distribution products.
Expertise in rack PDU firmware, power distribution principles, and monitoring systems.
Experience with network protocols (e.g., SNMP, Modbus, IPMI).
✔ Strong knowledge of physical infrastructure components, including rack enclosures and cooling systems.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and customer engagement skills.
Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of UPS systems, cooling systems, and cable management.
Experience in product lifecycle management within data center technology.
