Description:
We are excited to partner with our client in Denver as they expand their accounting department and seek to add a Senior Accountant to join their team. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing the financial operations of construction projects, including budgeting, financial reporting, cost analysis, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction accounting and be capable of leading and mentoring junior staff members. This role offers a hybrid work model, with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
Required Skills:
- Oversee the financial management of construction projects, including budget development, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of project costs, including labor, materials, subcontractor expenses, and overhead costs as well as accurately track these costs.
- Review and approve project-related invoices, change orders, and purchase orders in accordance with project budgets and contracts.
- Prepare monthly project financial reports, including profit and loss statements, cash flow projections, and project status updates for management review.
- Conduct detailed cost analysis and provide insights to project managers and senior leadership on project profitability and performance.
- Implement and maintain internal controls and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collect, analyze, organize, and prepare monthly draw submissions to bank
- Assist in Maintaining COI's from subcontractors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA designation preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting roles with a focus in the construction industry.
- Strong proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including job costing, revenue recognition, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
- Advanced knowledge of financial reporting standards.
