Information Technology Specialist 4:

The Advanced SQL Database and Python Developer will support the agency's custom-developed SQL database applications and Python data feeds. This position will be responsible for designing and implementing large and complex database systems, supporting existing database and reporting systems, and participating in the technical design of agency systems, business practices, and process automation. In this role, the Advanced SQL Database and Python Developer will work with other IT professionals in development efforts and will work with agency senior management to analyze business processes as well as suggest and design automation procedures to make the work of the agency more efficient.

Information Technology Specialist 5:

The Senior SQL Database and Python Developer will support the agency's custom-developed SQL database applications and Python data feeds. This position will be responsible for designing and implementing large and complex database systems, supporting existing database and reporting systems, and participating in the technical design of agency systems, business practices, and process automation. In this role, the Senior SQL Database and Python Developer will lead other SQL Database and Python Developers in development efforts.

• This vacancy is being posted at the Information Technology Specialist 4 and Information Technology Specialist 5 levels. Only one (1) vacancy will be filled, and the classification will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

• Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
• Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Information Technology Specialist 4:

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in SQL database development and management and Python programming.

Experience must include:

• Experience in creating, altering, and managing SQL database schemas, including databases, tables, indexes, views, and keys.
• Experience in Python programming and frameworks, with the ability to write reusable, testable, and efficient code.
• Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
• Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
