QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media
  • Experience writing, editing, and proofreading
  • Experience maximizing features on social media platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook) as well as using tools like Hootsuite and Later
  • Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft applications (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Experience in brand development and marketing
  • Experience using web and social media analytics to design, measure, test, and adapt social media outreach and engagement strategies
  • Demonstrated aptitude to learn new software systems and tools
  • Experience with image creation and/or graphic design for social media (Photoshop, Canva, etc.); video experience a plus (Premie, Rush)
  • High emotional intelligence, multicultural literacy, appreciation and respect for equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • High School Degree, GED, Associates Degree, and/or Bachelors Degree

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and Implement Social Media Strategy: In collaboration with Communications Manager, create a comprehensive monthly social media strategy aligned with Island Conservation’s goals and objectives to be reviewed by the Strategic Communications Director.
  • Content Creation: Generate engaging and relevant content, including text, images, videos, and infographics, to be shared on social media platforms.
  • Social Media Posting: Schedule and publish posts for our social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & LinkedIn), ensuring consistent and timely updates.
  • Audience Engagement: Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions to actively engage with our online community and build relationships.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Use social media analytics tools to identify and develop strategies for achieving specific social media goals, such as increasing followers, engagement, website traffic, and conversions..
  • Stay Current with Trends: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in social media, incorporating best practices into the strategy.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as Philanthropy, to ensure social media efforts are aligned with overall organizational goals.
  • Content Calendar Management: Maintain a monthly content calendar in PowerPoint to coordinate and plan content, ensuring a consistent mission-aligned posting schedule for review by Communications Manager and Strategic Communications Director. Adapt to emerging situations and adjust calendar throughout month.
  • Brand Management: Ensure that all social media content and interactions align with Island Conservation’s brand identity and messaging.
  • Influencer Partnerships: Identify and collaborate with relevant social media influencers and partners to amplify Island Conservation’s message and reach a wider audience.
  • Accessibility and Inclusivity: Ensure that social media content is accessible to all audiences, including those with disabilities, and promotes diversity and inclusivity.
