Description:

1.1 Confidentiality of Request Documents: This RFP is issued in confidence. The information contained within it and information disclosed by the University to the Company during this RFP process must not be disclosed to third parties without the MI-SBDC’s and the University’s prior permission.

1.2 Responses: RFP responses must be received via email by Chris Vieau and Josh Webb by the date and time specified on page 1 of this RFP document. The responsibility of getting the complete RFP response to Chris Vieau and Josh Webb rests entirely with your Company. Base your response on your Company’s current capability to provide the Business Consultant Services described herein as minimum expectations.

1.3 Proposal Acceptance/Rejection: MI-SBDC and SVSU reserve the right to reject any or all proposals, in whole or in part, and to waive any irregularities whenever it is deemed, in the opinion of MI-SBDC and SVSU, to be in the proposal recipients’ best interest to do so.

1.4 Indemnification: The Company agrees to indemnify, save and hold harmless SVSU, its employees, its agents, its President, and its Board of Control from any and all suits, claims, liability, damages, loss, cost and expenses of every kind of nature, including attorney fees, which may be asserted against SVSU, its employees or agents, its President or its Board of Control by another or others resulting from the performance of the work herein described.

1.6 Non-Collusion Clause: By submitting and signing this proposal, the Company declares that neither the Company nor agents of the Company have entered into any collusion or agreement concerning the price to be bid. The Company further declares that no persons, firms, or corporations, have or will receive directly, any rebate, fee, gift, commission, etc., or that any employee or office of SVSU has any undisclosed interest in the award of this contract.

1.7 Insurance: SVSU Insurance Requirements – applicant attachment to BID response.

1.8 Liens: The Company shall keep SVSU free and clear of all liens asserted by any person or firm for any reason outside of the furnishing of services by or to the Company.

1.9 Potential Agreement Renewals: SVSU reserves the right to issue up to four (4) renewals of any Agreement(s) resulting from this RFP based upon mutual agreement between all parties, if funding is renewed and if renewal without issuing a new RFP to support each renewal is allowed by the funding source.

1.10 All Other Terms: All other terms governing this opportunity will be defined in the SBDC NE SVSU Independent Contractor Agreement 2022-23 file and in the Attachments and Addenda referenced in the Agreement document.
II. CONTRACT CONSIDERATION CRITERIA / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED
2.1 Independent Contractor is engaged in an independent business and has complied with all federal, state and local laws regarding business permits and licenses of any kind that may be required to carry out the business and the tasks to be performed; and acknowledges responsibility for payment of income and self-employment (social security) tax as required by law.

2.2 Bachelor's degree in or with business related concentration

2.3 Experience owning or operating a small business

2.4 Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend hours.

2.5 Ability to travel to and from various client businesses throughout Bay County and/or Lake Huron region with potential for some limited work in adjacent counties.

2.6 Ability to travel and attend meetings and training as required for SBDC regional office and statewide.

2.7 Demonstrated strong presentation and training skills, as well as written, and interpersonal communication skills.

2.8 Demonstrated proficiency with standard software programs including spreadsheet applications.

2.9 The performance of this contract requires that the independent contractor has the ability to sit for extended periods of time; to work on the computer; communicate by telephone, email or in person; to move around an office; to travel independently to locations locally, statewide, or nationally; to talk or hear; to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and have vision abilities including close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
