Description:
Are you an expert in US Navy Systems? We are seeking an outstanding Shipyard Liaison to provide Subject Matter Expert level production analysis for FFG 62 class ships. You will have a direct voice to the Program Manager’s Representative, SUPSHIP, Production and Test Teams as you assess each ship’s readiness for construction milestones leading up to Trials, Delivery and Final Contract Trials. You will apply your technical acumen to help resolve the top issues facing the program.
In this role, you will:
- Use familiarity with shipyard operations and activities to provide insights and guidance to senior program office personnel charged with making decisions regarding execution of the DD&C contract.
- Work with the onsite production team to stay abreast of each hull under construction and provide insights and recommendations regarding predictions of likely dates and readiness for construction milestones to include ALO, Launch, Trials, and Delivery, and FCT.
- Provide technical and programmatic guidance in reviews for material failures and root cause analysis.
- Monitor change processes and provide timely recommendations to integrate and implement future upgrades into FFG 62 Class ships that minimize impact to cost and schedule.
- Assist PMS 515 in the identification and resolution of issues that arise during ship construction and trials. Prepare technical assessments of Government responsible deficiencies that are documented from Builder’s, Acceptance and Final Contract Trials (FCTs).
- Prepare trial briefs on key technical issues, as requested, to be presented to the Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) prior to trials. Provide technical analysis and responses to FFG Prospective Commanding Officer & Commanding Officer Concerns Letters.
- Participate in trial card screening conferences, perform ship checks and analyses as required for FFG trial card review and resolution.
- Technical analysis of non-conformances and testing anomalies to aid in Navy Technical Authority review and in informing PMS 515 awareness of risks.
- Provide engineering and logistical assistance for system reviews and technical meetings including but not limited to SPRs, Aviation IPTs, QPR Technical Issues Meetings, Failure Review Boards, RCIA meetings, Risk Review Board, and other production and test reviews.
- Provide on-site engineering, technical, and coordination services support during system installation, light-off and activation, testing, and sea trials.
- Provide suggestions and services that assist the 515 team with Coordination and Conduct of Public Affairs/Protocol events for significant program/ship milestones, as well as draft and edit press releases for significant events.
- Have knowledge of US Navy engineering standards and guidelines.
- Have excellent oral and technical report writing skills.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Active DoD Secret clearance post-employment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Engineering; or similar field. Significant relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Ten (10) plus years of relevant experience.
- Experience with US Navy HME system operations and maintenance.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Up to 10 % travel may be required for this role.
