Description:
As a Shift Coordinator, you will work directly with the Plant Manager, and the Shift Supervisor assisting in the day-to-day operations of the de-linting and packaging plants and shipping and receiving in the warehouse. Your primary focus will be on providing support for production, business, and a wide range of other processes within a team-oriented manufacturing environment. This includes performing activities in various cross-functional areas such as production planning and control, total quality management, systems, manufacturing, equipment and facilities engineering, material management, and process re-engineering.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations set by BASF and plant management. You will play an integral part in participating in all EHS safety-related discussions and initiatives within the site, including ERP (Emergency Response Plan) activities, toolbox talks, audits, and safety inspections.
- Maintain the plant monitoring programs and follow standard operating procedures (SOP’s) as they apply to the various processes of the facility. This includes conducting an annual review of existing policies and procedures, as well as implementing new ones as necessary.
- Meet and exceed daily, weekly, and yearly production goals established by Cotton Seed Supply, all while ensuring the production of a high-quality product within a safe work environment. You will also be responsible for regularly communicating the status of production, projects, or functions to supervisory staff, both verbally and in writing.
- Engage in variety cleans across all areas of the site to ensure compliance with SOP requirements. This includes identifying and providing adequate training and mentoring to individuals involved in the process, as well as verifying that process equipment is prepared and ready for the next production run, troubleshooting equipment problems, and carrying out necessary repairs.
- Actively participate in team meetings focused on topics such as shift change, cleaning, maintenance, and regulatory matters. You will also assist in hands-on training of contingent workers to include competency evaluations.
- Participate in the site's Quality and Stewardship initiatives. This will involve engaging in all aspects of seed quality assessment, including evaluating immatures, cracks, and seed color, to further enhance your expertise within the plant. You will also ensure that treatment and packaging activities are carried out in accordance with established standards.
- Facilitate self-directed work teams, provide training in "core skill" areas to teams and peers, and interact with internal and external customers with respect to product planning, problem resolution, and process improvement.
- Take charge of maintenance activities during the off-season months, as well as provide assistance with inventory counts of chemicals, bags, and raw materials.
If you...
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
- Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing, seed production, ginning, seed conditioning, or related farm/mechanical fields.
- Possess knowledge of OSHA's PSM regulatory requirements.
- Are proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Exhibit team leadership skills, organizational expertise, and managerial experience.
- Have knowledge and adherence to Safety (Responsible Care Preferred), Stewardship, and Quality Management systems.
- Hold Lean Six Sigma and Operational Excellence certification (preferred).
