The Senior Safety Specialist for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for ensuring our associates are able to return each day to help us in our mission in healthcare.
This position is part of the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) department located in Chaska, Minnesota and will be on-site. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Provide EHS site support for internal customers including manufacturing and research and development laboratories
- Identify opportunities to minimize risks and prevent workplace injuries; work with cross-functional teams to drive projects and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead and support EHS-related committees, task forces, and cross-functional teams; serve on the site’s emergency response team(s)
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Facilitating regulatory compliance activities; coordinate work efforts and recordkeeping related to chemical exposure monitoring (industrial hygiene), confined spaces, electrical safety, emergency action planning, equipment safety (machine guarding), fire prevention, chemical hygiene / lab safety, radiation safety, contractor safety, respiratory protection, and safe facility design
- Conducting risk assessments on processes, equipment, and chemicals, identify compliance concerns, program non-conformities and opportunities for improvement
- Conducting EHS audits, self-assessments, and inspections to ensure workplace conditions comply with internal policies, program requirements and applicable local, state, and national regulations
- Leading incident investigations, root cause analysis and after-action reviews; collaborate with process owners to develop and implement corrective actions and engineering controls as needed
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, safety engineering, safety management, occupational health, or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Regulatory knowledge working under U.S. federal and state and/or equivalent regulations in safety and environment such as RCRA, OSHA, MPCA, etc. or capable of learning requirements
