Role and Responsibilities
- Applies a broad understanding of the 3GPP specification for LTE/5G features and Protocols, products, systems, and technologies across the business portfolio and a profound technical ability to integrate these components to deliver a cohesive E2E solution architecture for a given initiative.
- Analyzes customer requirements, converts then into system requirements and captures detailed design for the development team for all Samsung product features.
- Responsible for leading technical discussions on Samsung products related features
- Authors technical proposals, Technical research and white papers, design documents, Operator network design, RFI/RFP
- Owns solution design for cross-domain initiatives and works across domains to ensure a cohesive solution. Ensure the quality of architecture and design of systems.
- Reviews and identifies the gaps in the architecture and solution designs and assesses and defines remediation efforts or mitigation options.
- Translates and communicates complex technical design considerations between the Samsung sales team and the customer’s network business (sales calls, joint network design discussions, etc.)
- Provides expert technical support in the pre-sales process and creates compelling technological and commercial solutions to help achieve the assigned sales goals and business objectives.
- Negotiates and convinces others, in a potentially adversarial environment, including customer leadership, directors and managers with opposing views, to accept/approve plans, technical and project recommendations
- Defines End-To-End test strategy and test plans working with R&D and test teams.
- Supports business meetings initiated by Samsung’s customer Account Sales Leadership to increase existing sales and introduce new products.
- Support sales teams in customer engagement/discussions for RFPs and SOWs
- Work closely with Samsung Korea technology sales, R&D, support organizations, logistics, and cross-functional teams from SEA and Samsung HQ to achieve successful product roll-outs meeting customers’ expectations.
- Define tools, processes, and resources to deliver end-to-end (vRAN/Macro/Private Networks/ Small Cells/Various deployment options/FCAPs/Customer Lab Environments) solutions
- Develops deep relationships within customer’s network business at multiple levels of the technical organization and nationwide market; Establishes/maintains trust and rapport as the SME for technical network solutions. Create proposals based on new and existing contractual agreements.
- Works closely with various organizations, logistics, and cross-functional teams from SEA and Samsung HQ to achieve successful new product roll-outs and developments.

Background/Experience required:
- Undergraduate Degree in engineering with 12-15 years of directly related experience is required. A Masters with 10+ years of experience is preferred.
- Must have 4G/5G Call Processing experience with In-depth knowledge of RRC, S1-MME, S1-U, and X2 protocols and understanding of concepts such as Hybrid Beamforming, Massive MIMO, New Waveforms, LTE-NR interworking & co-existence, 5G Numerologies, etc.
- Experienced and fluent with 3GPP RAN product architecture, design, implementation and performance improvements (KPIs). Good understanding of scheduler functionality is beneficial.
- Good understanding of overall Wireless systems with emphasis on PHY, MAC, RLC, RRC and PDCP layers
- Working knowledge of various RF antenna technologies & network optimizations.
- Working knowledge of VRAN, public cloud and private could deployments
- Must have experience in working with R&D teams, finalizing feature roadmaps and presenting in technical deep-dive sessions to customer
- Experience with SW development is beneficial
- Must possess the ability to thrive in a highly dynamic cross-functional environment (partnership across Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Global HQ, etc.) and navigate complex customer stakeholders and business units;
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate an organization and manage via influence is just as paramount as technical ability.
