At Zelis, we are building the next generation of healthcare analytics tools powered by the most comprehensive provider data sets in the industry. This builds upon the unique tech stack Zelis has deployed across its provider networks comparison, providers directories, claims cost analytics and provider accessibility and analytics platform as a service, a first of its kind in the healthcare industry. We love processing large data sets and providing insights to our payer clients. We are building and maintaining software using Rust, Polars and Ruby on Rails to ingest, process, and analyze significant datasets.

We are seeking a talented hands-on Senior Software Engineer, fluent in Rust, Ruby or Python, for a full-time, remote opportunity. Our ideal candidate is a Senior (5+ years) back-end engineer, with experience in building and maintaining scalable enterprise-level big-data analytics applications. You work with large data sets and own the entire development lifecycle. Your role is instrumental in delivering sophisticated analytical solutions that support data-driven decision-making.

This is an amazing opportunity for a hands-on, seasoned Senior Software Engineer who can define and implement new and challenging technical projects.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build and maintain scalable, and resilient end-to-end data architectures to meet customers needs.
• Participate, contribute and build an understanding of complex data relationships among disparate rate, demographic and utilization data sources.
• Optimize code for efficiency, reducing unnecessary CPU and memory overhead and costs wherever possible.
• Proven record of delivering big data projects.
• Thrive in a culture of experimentation, prototyping, and iterative solutioning to address challenges.

• Promote the use of open-source software as well as AWS, including but not limited to Unix, Docker, PostgreSQL.
• Work with functional leads to understand the data requirements, design and implement data pipelines and queries to scale.

What we are looking for:

• 5+ years experience with Rust, Ruby or Python.
• Must have strong data structures, design, algorithms
• Recent experience using Polars.
• Experience working with AWS and AWS SDKs.
• Expertise using CI/CD pipelines: Github Actions, Docker Containers, Jenkins
• Expertise in cloud-based data solutions and big data technologies: Hadoop, Apache Spark. Expertise writing and optimizing complex SQL queries in large data sets. Preferred experience in PostgreSQL.
• Experience writing easily maintainable, extendable, and understandable code that adheres to software engineering design principles.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
