Description:

eBay, a global eCommerce leader empowering millions of buyers and sellers across 190+ markets, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join its Compliance Engineering Team. This team plays a critical role in safeguarding eBay’s marketplace by ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies related to prohibited, restricted, and counterfeit items.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and build large-scale applications, low-latency APIs, and AI/ML-powered compliance systems. You’ll work with cutting-edge technologies and help develop the AI-driven detection tools that keep eBay’s platform safe and trustworthy. This role offers the unique opportunity to shape eBay’s compliance technology stack while collaborating with top architects, business leaders, and AI experts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop large-scale applications, low-latency APIs, data pipelines, and foundational compliance architectures.
  • Design and build configurable, metadata-driven platforms to ingest and apply compliance rules, models, and policies.
  • Build and optimize machine learning models, Gen AI tools, and LLMs to detect non-compliant listings and enhance customer trust.
  • Partner with internal teams and external experts to define scalable technology strategies.
  • Own the full software lifecycle: design, development, testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative team culture.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 7 to 10+ years of hands-on software development experience in large-scale environments.
  • Strong background in AI/ML/Gen AI technologies, with proven experience deploying models to production.
  • Expertise in Java, Scala, Python, along with frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Proficiency in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and distributed systems architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with big data and streaming technologies such as Spark, Flink, and Kafka.
  • Strong database skills: SQL, NoSQL, and advanced data modeling techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with a passion for innovation.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Annual base salary: $149600 to $228800 (monthly equivalent: $12466 to $19066)
