T Brand is a dynamic team of editors, designers, strategists, and more who create branded content across the full spectrum of The New York Times’s advertisers. Our work takes many forms — reported articles, documentary videos, animations, photo essays, social posts, podcasts, interactive data visualizations, even event activations or newsroom partnerships.
The Studio is looking for an experienced Senior Designer to lead the creation of the latest multi-platform digital experiences and print campaigns.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Designer on this team:
You will produce top-tier design contributions autonomously for both client and internal projects.
You will translate conceptual and strategic ideas into graphic directions.
You will design iteratively, showcasing a command of typography, composition, messaging hierarchy, and layout, and other fundamental principles of graphic design.
You will source and organize relevant reference imagery that inspires (Design, Page Animation, Illustration, and Photography).
You will present and articulate design work to Designers, Art Directors, Creative Directors, and project teams, ensuring clear conveyance of ideas and feedback.
You will assist Art Directors, Design Directors, and Creative Directors in delivering comprehensive feedback to external collaborators.
You will lead by example by managing a balanced workload, producing high-quality work, requesting resource adjustments when needed, supporting other teams when possible, and maintaining proactive collaboration with Art Directors and fellow Designers.
You will report to the Art Director.
Basic Qualifications:
4+ years of experience working within advertising agencies, creative studios, or media organizations with an emphasis on creating design work or editorial storytelling for a variety of clients.
Experience as a designer, with a portfolio showcasing a range of design projects and design processes.
Experience working on projects involving multiple partners, including external clients and our teams.
Proficient in designing responsive web interfaces using industry-standard tools such as Figma
Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and frontend design styling at a foundational level.
Experience using collaborative tools such as Google Suite, Docs, and Slides.
