KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures the care, safety, and direct supervision of campers during the camp day. Follows and ensures campers follow the best health and safety practices.
  • Leads daily camp activities including teaching camp lessons, leading games, singing songs and engaging campers.
  • Maintains a fun, positive, and friendly demeanor. Greets new arrivals and introduces them to other campers; explains camp and facility rules.
  • Supports Camp Admin staff during camp group’s drop-off and pick-up process daily.
  • Works cooperatively to maintain open lines of communication with caregivers, campers, supervisors and co-workers.
  • Maintains BADM supplies, equipment, and facilities. Demonstrates use of recreational equipment and teaches participants the principles, techniques, and safety procedures for each activity.
  • Responsible for the health, safety, and general welfare of campers for the entirety of each session, including enforcing camp rules and regulations and ensuring safety throughout Fort Baker.
  • Mentor junior staff employed as Junior Camp Facilitators.
  • Perform duties related to the tracking and upkeep of personal belongings to assure that they are clean, safe and well cared for and available as needed.
  • Attend team/program meetings, provide and receive feedback on strengths and weaknesses of planned activities, offer suggestions and participate in general sharing.
  • Must be available for at least two consecutive weeks between the weeks of June 10th-August 16th 2024.

Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred and/or minimum age of 18.
  • Experience working in an informal education, summer camp, or early childhood education setting facilitating open-ended learning activities for young children ages 4-8.
  • Must enjoy working with young children in open-ended learning activities.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Abides by and enforces BADM’s health and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work flexibly within a team and with campers in a professional and caring manner.
  • Mature and hard-working attitude. Willingness to go above and beyond when the situation calls for it.
  • Up to date CPR/First Aid certification (Training provided)
  • Ability to assess appropriate behavior and apply behavior modifying techniques when needed.
