Senior Business Development Analyst

 

Description:

The Senior Business Development Analyst will be responsible for the optimization of the commercial component of the capital portfolio for the Cenovus Toledo Refinery. In addition, analysis of the strategic options available to the business is needed to advise management on possible long term optimization opportunities for the asset.

This role will carry out market research into relevant economic and market trends in order to identify areas for growth, along with handling funding and subsidies research to understanding legislation impact and alignments for project financing strategies. The successful candidate will have a strong background in gated project processes, and economic evaluation analysis.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Responsible for day-to-day management of all commercial contracts including handling outages, turnaround volume planning, approval of invoices and dealing with 3rd party vendors
  • Provides analytical support to develop understanding of contract contents including energy optimization at the refinery and assist in meeting strategic commercial objectives
  • Develop economic models for new or renewed third party commercial contracts and collaborate with partners to seek alignment for approvals
  • Translate commercial drivers and operational risk reduction into viable projects, by following the Cenovus project development process.
  • Identify projects to improve the refinery capital portfolio and champion commercial projects with operations to acquire support and feedback
  • Support the LP planner and identify case work to evaluate the economic viability of gross margin projects to ensure that projects are based on sound overall refinery economics
  • Develop, implement, and maintain work processes that efficiently link projects into refinery project approvals and work practices.
  • Participate in assessments, strategy planning, cost model development, financial and commercial activities to support new business opportunities
  • Support and/or deliver strategic studies and ensure the studies and development work is conducted in collaboration with other refinery teams
     

Qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent, Chemical Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of work experience in a refinery or relevant industry experience
  • Refinery Operations and/or Commercial experience is considered an asset
  • Experience with NPV, IRR and optionality assessment and has experience running Linear Program Models
