Description:
Imperium Commodity Search is exclusively retained by a global mid-sized trading business with a thorough back/middle office set up, but space to grow the front office with the addition of a seasoned Aluminum/Base/Non-Ferrous trader to their North East team. With a global business covering a multitude of metals products, Aluminum is a strong sector for our client in the US markets and there is an opportunity for an experienced trader to add to their established team where they can enjoy a world less corporate/red-tape focused with more control over the end to end trade cycle.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Reponsible for developing the macro/micro trading strategy for non-ferrous/base metal products, with a particular focus on aluminum preferred
- Coach and develop junior traders across the metals space, utilising your knowledge and experience of end to end trading to help the more junior traders grow in capacity
- Ensure all trades are within company risk profiles/risk limits
- Build and maintain relationships with aluminium/aluminum and base metal producers, trading houses and customers across the North American region
- Work with internal risk, operations and finance teams to ensure timely and accurate trades, with full coverage of the end to end supply chain for base metal products
- Produce and manage monthly trading reports to demonstrate to management book performance, risk limits and trajectories
- Trade both physical and financial metal products to ensure a continuous drive for risk-secure, healthy PnLs on your desk
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5+years’ experience of trading physical base metal/non-ferrous metal products in the North American market
- Good understanding of risk metrics/risk control
- Excellent understanding of the logistics and supply chain process in the metals space, with experience handling all elements of the trade
- Strong on-desk presence with the ability to coach and guide junior metal traders
- Experience handling futures/metal derivatives preferred
- Fluent in English, additional languages a benefit but not required
