Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and Facilitate Learning Workshops and Professional Development.
- The Cyrus Tang Foundation, School Partnerships Educator, will develop and facilitate learning workshops, from conceptualization through evaluation, for content related to AANHPI exhibitions and other Museum exhibits. This position will develop and implement Pre-K-12th grade student learning experiences within the context of school partnerships, including experiential learning workshops, tailored Field trips to the museum, and engagement with museum collections. This position will collaboratively develop a curriculum in Social Science and Science aligned to current learning standards, inquiry-based, and culturally relevant/sustaining. The Cyrus Tang, Foundation School Partnerships Educator, will aid with the implementation of Pre-K-12th grade student learning experiences within the context of school partnerships, including tailored field trips to the museum and engagement with museum collections and research within the classroom as needed. This individual will support all aspects of school partnerships, including learning workshops, school field trips, science or cultural nights at schools, and other duties as assigned.
Support School Partnerships with Teacher Professional Development.
- The Cyrus Tang Foundation, School Partnerships Educator, will develop and curate Pre-K-12th grade professional development and educational resources to support classroom instruction within the context of school partnerships. They will foster ongoing internal collaborations across departments and external collaborations with schools and community partners in support of professional development.
Document and Maintain Programming Records and Program Evaluation.
- The Cyrus Tang, Foundation School Partnerships Educator, will support the creation and implementation of evaluation plans and contribute to program reporting reports, including grant reports and proposals, as needed. This individual will maintain program records, including participation data and professional learning documentation for the Illinois State Board of Education.
- Assist with General Learning Center or Programming Needs
Qualifications:
- The Cyrus Tang Foundation, School Partnerships Educator, must have experience working with and/or in AANHPI communities. The ideal candidate will have content expertise in AANHPI studies, science, or social sciences and have a thorough understanding and demonstrated ability of learning standards (NGSS, C3 Framework, Common Core). The candidate should have a strong commitment to Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion, as well as Social Justice standards and principles. The ideal candidate should identify as self-motivated and solutions-oriented–remaining Flexible when navigating day-to-day challenges and proactive when identifying solutions.
- The ideal candidate must be available to work in person approximately 1-2 evenings and 1-2 weekends a month and must have access to a car, and be willing to travel to schools across Chicago and the Chicagoland area. They should enjoy working on a team to develop program ideas collaboratively. Preference will be given to candidates with 3-5 years of experience successfully developing and teaching AANHPI curriculum for Pre-K-12th grade students.
