Description:
The position of Business Development Representative (BDR), under the guidance of an appointed SVP Business Development Officer, is responsible for studying and learning how to become a self-motivated and self-sourcing BDO. The objective is for the BDR to develop the necessary skillset to succeed as an independent BDO with minimal supervision once fully trained and supported by demonstrated self-originated closings. Following are Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a BDR.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in and successfully complete each defined training rotation required during the program, which includes Servicing, Underwriting, Processing and Construction within the SBA Loan Division.
Learn each technical and system function required during training rotations including but not limited to: sales, products and pricing, underwriting and credit analysis, servicing customer accounts, processing/closing loans, loan applications and construction processing.
Gain an overall understanding of the day-to-day tasks within the SBA Division and specifically the SBA BDO position including, but not limited to:
Building a strong network of relationships with local and national SBA loan referral sources including Commercial Mortgage Brokers, Business Brokers, Realtors, Attorneys, Franchises, CPAs, other commercial bankers, and other business contacts to solicit SBA loan requests.
Working with referral sources and borrowers to develop and fund SBA commercial real estate loans.
Conducting presentations, leading meetings and effectively communicating EB&T SBA lending strengths such as creative lending and fast closings.
Developing strong relationships with local SBA District offices by attending meetings and scheduled events.
Preparing loan applications and presenting them to SBA Underwriting.
Consistently generating and maintaining a high volume loan pipeline of SBA loan transactions that meet risk and return, pricing, structure, and loan objectives of the bank.
Compiling complete, high quality, loan application packages to underwriting.
Presenting commitment letters to borrowers for execution.
Working closely with the SBA loan origination team (underwriting, processing, and closing) and the borrower to deliver an 80% credit approval rate and successful closing of at least 80% of accepted commitments.
Building strong “Bank Brand Awareness” in the marketplace.
Representing the bank with honesty and integrity while delivering high levels of customer service in all interactions.
Building strong relationships that promote a positive reputation within the local business community.
Completing other tasks as assigned by the SBA Division’s management staff and/or assigned BDO.
Maintain a current understanding of Bank underwriting guidelines, procedures, policies and compliance issues. Maintain a working knowledge of regulatory requirements for documentation and regulations relating to SBA lending.

Proficiency with personal computers and related software.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics or other related fields experience.
Two to five (2-5) years related experience in a similar lending environment or financial institution.
