Resource Engineer

 

Description:

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to: leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of section goals, objectives, policies, and procedures; directing the development and delivery of transportation projects; assuring consistency in project delivery and consistency with the Department’s Strategic Plan; providing expert professional project management and engineering expertise; ensuring Metro District has adequate resources to develop and deliver future projects/programs; serving on district or agency leadership teams or groups; representing MnDOT by participating in and/or leading state, national, local, and internal committees, subcommittees and councils on transportation-related research and policy.

This position is located at Metro District’s Waters Edge building in Roseville, MN. The employee will have the option to telework but may be required to be in the office based on business needs. A telework agreement will be required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a Professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geo-science, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID)

  • Five years of professional (post registration) engineering experience of which at least three years are at the Principal Engineer level or higher and demonstrates experience managing or developing complex highway projects.

  • Technical Expertise: Knowledge of Program Delivery efforts. Experience developing and/or managing transportation (highway) projects.
  • Leadership and Management: Skills and experience leading and managing initiatives, developing and implementing innovative solutions to complex issues, managing and leading teams, and leading and motivating others who do not report directly in developing and completing projects/programs. Experience negotiating and managing conflict.

  • Fiscal and Human Resources Management: Experience managing fiscal and human resources including managing a budget and supervising staff (including hiring, assigning, and evaluating work, promoting, disciplining, and training staff).

  • Communication and Human Relations: Experience engaging and collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders including public officials, private industry, citizens, legislators, and other interest groups.
