Public Relations Specialist

The PR Specialist will play a significant role in the development and execution of a holistic PR program for Gartner’s IT practice in the Americas to promote our expertise and thought leadership in the IT space, increasing our brand awareness among key targets (prospects and clients), shortening the sales cycle and contributing to the continued growth of the company worldwide.

What You Will do:

  • Work closely with the Senior PR manager to significantly contribute to the holistic PR program for Gartner’s IT practice in the Americas, focused on promoting our expertise and thought leadership, and generating brand awareness for Gartner in the IT space
  • Develop and maintain relationships with top-tier business and trade media in the technology space – proactively pitch our research and thought leadership, and respond to inbound requests
  • Partner with the Senior PR manager for the Americas to manage incoming media inquiries by understanding reporter’s deadlines and determining the right Gartner analyst for the topic to secure media coverage for Gartner
  • Create various written collateral, including media pitches, press releases, byline articles, expert Q&As and news perspectives and social media content
  • Conduct rapid responses with the media when breaking technology news takes place
  • Conduct outreach with the media in relation to external IT events
  • Provide support with media outreach for Gartner Conferences – assist in developing holistic PR plans/timelines & deliverables (including PR Tool Kits, press releases/bylines articles/expert Q&As and Daily Highlights from Gartner conferences to secure press coverage in top tier media
  • Maintain and refine media lists to ensure they are updated and current
  • Develop and maintain IT analyst contact sheet & Market Data Book
  • Share key media coverage via real-time emails to stakeholders
  • Contribute to and update various tracking documents to accurately reflect results
  • Utilize Business Wire to distribute media advisories and press releases; Post press releases/media advisories on Gartner Newsroom
  • Understand social media best practices and actively participate in the relevant conversations happening on Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Utilize monitoring tools to track press coverage and share of voice for Gartner and competitors among a defined set of top tier business and trade reporters

What You Will Need:

  • 2-4 years’ experience in a public relations, corporate communications or marketing role, preferably in a large organization or PR agency
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including senior executives in a professional, high-performing, fast-paced environment
  • Must have strong written / verbal / interpersonal communication skills
  • Must have experience with collaboration technology tools (ie: Google Drive, Google Docs, etc)
  • Must be a self-starter who demonstrates independence and initiative in taking on and completing deliverables with minimal direction and oversight from supervisor. Experience in developing and executing communication processes utilizing a range of tactics and platforms
  • Attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple tasks at once
  • Exceptional collaboration and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn
  • Sense of urgency when warranted
  • Process oriented and foundational knowledge of the IT space is a plus
