Description:
WRRC is seeking an individual who will be responsible for preparing various digital and printed scientific/technical materials, and disseminating these materials. Ideally, the person hired should have a strong track record in editing scientific reports. You will be responsible for editing, proofreading, distributing, and promoting our research to various stakeholders and to the general public. To be successful in this position, you should be able to work independently as well as in a group environment, pay attention to technical details, be resourceful as well as proactive, and have effective time management skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs production work for a variety of materials (digital and printed) for dissemination to scientific/technical communities and/or the general public.
- Proofreads and edits scientific/technical publications.
- Assists in the preparation of graphics for digital and printed materials.
- Develops and maintains relationships with various stakeholders.
- Maintains flexible work schedule to accommodate various project deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Professional Work Experience
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in communications, media studies, information technology, engineering science or related field and 0 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for public information; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of public information demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
- Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with public information.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of public information.
- Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software, including desktop publishing software, office and multimedia software suites.
Supplemental Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
- Demonstrated experience in editing scientific reports.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
- Efficient time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of business hours, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
