Description:
OVERVIEW: Working as part of the Public Engagement team, this position supports and furthers the museum’s efforts to connect with communities through the coordination of public programs, community partnerships, and art resources. A particular focus for these efforts is on the museum’s newly promised collection of Alexander Calder works in the Shirley Family Collection. This is a one year position with possibility of renewal.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Public Programming:
Organize and execute public programs (in-person and virtual) related to the Shirley Family Collection of works by Alexander Calder..
Along with members of the public engagement team, plan and coordinate programs, including events related to SAM’s collection - with an emphasis on the Shirley Family Collection- as well as exhibitions at all three locations.
Recruit, schedule, and supervise teaching artists, temporary staff, and event volunteers working with public programs.
Provide logistical and administrative support for programs.
Community Engagement and Partnerships:
Cultivate relationships with local organizations and cultural workers to build partnerships; serve as point person for community partnership inquiries and communications associated with the Shirley Family Collection and the broader museum, including management of the community pass program.
Develop outreach and programming strategy related to the Shirley Family Collection among non-profit partners, artists, and educational entities.
