Job Summary: The Coordinator for Student Engagement and Leadership is charged with developing, coordinating and implementing campus activities and events that cultivate a strong sense of community, enhance co-curricular learning, encourage civic engagement, develop student leaders, and promote student involvement within the college community. The coordinator assists the Director for Student Engagement and Leadership in insuring equitable cocurricular programming across all site campuses as well as online through virtual means.

Essential Functions:

40% 1. In collaboration with the Director, Student Engagement and Leadership, develop, coordinate, and implement co-curricular student activities programming that meet the missions of the college, Student Engagement and Leadership Office, and the needs of the student body.

  • Promote learning and development of students by, creating and supporting learning outcome-based programming and constructing opportunities to practice leadership and organizational skills.
  • Supervise the Student Activities Board and student hiring process for all SAB positions at each campus.
  • Negotiate contacts with vendors.
  • Complete administrative tasks related to event planning, including requisitions, room reservations and catering requests.
  • Coordinate publicity of events.
  • Assist in creating and implementing all student leader-training events.
  • Develop assessment tools to gauge success and achievement of learning outcomes
  • Complete reporting requirements as necessary.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

30% 2. Collaborate with Campus Deans to develop, coordinate, promote, and implement co-curricular student activities programming at site campus locations that meets the mission at strategic goals of the college and the office of Student Engagement and Leadership, while considering unique needs of the student body at each location. Recruit and supervise Student Activities Board members at each site campus.

15% 3. Assists students and advisors in the creation, operations, and recognition of student organizations across the college. Ensures that all college and TBR system policies related to student organizations and student travel are followed. Develop and coordinate ongoing training sessions for student organization leaders and advisors, and opportunities for communication and information sharing. Plan and execute mandatory education and training sessions for organizations each semester.

10% 4. Serve as the staff advisor for National Society of Leadership and Success and the Student Activities Board. Provide necessary support to Student Government Association and Skills USA

5% 5. Serve on College committees as assigned; participate in relevant professional organizations, and professional development activities that enhance the College mission. Some travel related to job duties across the region and state. Other duties as assigned.

  • Favorable results related to departmental objectives on student surveys such as the CCSSEE, SENSE, Voice Out, etc.
  • Increasing programming quality and quantity at site campus locations.
  • Establishing and assessing learning outcomes for extra and co-curricular programming.
  • Growth in student organizations, including engagement and offerings, across the college.
  • Effective advising and mentorship of student leadership organizations.
  • Being present at sponsored activities and being available to students
  • Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the institution.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in a higher education related field preferred. Training with media technologies and programs for marketing are preferred.
  • Four years in higher education or other educational contexts.

Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% of full-time experience.
