Description:
PAM CUT // Center for an Untold Tomorrow invites applications for the position of Projectionist I. The Projectionist I works in a multi-format theater that plays a variety of media and assists with music, performances, lectures, panel discussions, and other non-moving image events. They are responsible for and accountable for maintaining excellent presentation quality and the overall audio-visual experience. This fast-paced role requires attention to detail and presentation best practices.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operates digital projection systems and their associated equipment
- Projection of DCP, Blu-Ray, DVD, ProRes and H.264 computer files
- Checks all media on screen prior to show for smooth playback
- Monitors picture and sound quality for the duration of every show
- Sets up and project shows on and off site including shows that are multi format or require extra projectors, power needs, cables, speakers, and media players
- Inspects and prepares media for screenings
- Regularly works with filmmakers and rental clients, including high profile events
- Responsible for the set up of microphones for panel discussions and visiting artists
- Troubleshoots technical issues
- Communicates any technical issues to the Head Projectionist and front of house staff where applicable
- Works with the Head of Projection and/or other techs in tandem for multi format shows
- Helps maintain the cleanliness of projection equipment and projection booth
- Provides a high level of visitor experience to all Museum guest and employees
Secondary or Additional Responsibilities
- Bridge communication between filmmakers/artists and front-of-house staff may be required.

- Experience with the handling digital media
- Experience working with digital projection systems
- Proficient computer skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Education, Formal & Informal Experience, Training Required, Certification, Etc.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of one to two years of experience with digital cinema projectors, servers, DCP and other digital media files
- Minimum of one to two years of experience operating audiovisual equipment such as Blu-Ray players, video and audio switchers, microphone setups, cable laying etc
- General familiarity and a level of comfort with technology
- General familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Google platforms
- 35mm and 16 mm projection experience desired, but not required
- Experience setting up outdoor cinema events desired but not required
