Description:
The Business Development Team collaborates with external stakeholders to advance CIRM’s mission. The team manages the Industry Alliance Program, which facilitates partnerships and collaborations between the biopharma industry and CIRM’s portfolio projects to accelerate commercialization of CIRM-funded therapies. It also supports CIRM’s alliances with industry partners, funding agencies and other stakeholders to meet the strategic needs of CIRM’s funding programs. Under the new strategic plan, the team will build a unique California Manufacturing Network for cell and gene therapies.
The Project Manager of Business Development reports to the Senior Director of Business Development and is responsible for project management and administrative functions including coordinating, managing, and implementing critical process aspects of the team’s operations. The Project Manager must be able to work independently and must be able to exercise sound judgment. The Project Manager liaises with other CIRM team members in information technology, grants management, and legal as well as with science officers to coordinate activities.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Leads and performs project management activities to assist the Team in delivering on the group goals and to enhance overall team performance using state of the art project management systems and tools (i.e. Monday.com).
- Manages processes, workflows, timelines, deliverables and resources for Team projects including funding initiatives, strategic alliances, industry partnerships, etc.
- Develops and implements continuous improvement and optimization initiatives across the department.Maintains and updates Team Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assists in implementation and continued compliance to Team SOPs.
- Supports the team in managing internal and external databases, analyses, reports, Team meeting minutes and action items, PowerPoint presentations, and data analytics tools (i.e. PowerBI).
- Maintain comprehensive intelligence databases and customer relationship management databases to support alliance management and business development functions.
- Coordinates with cross-functional teams at CIRM to develop detailed project plans and timelines to monitor and track progress of CIRM-wide projects and/or initiatives.
- Contribute towards sustainability of project management processes, tools and systems.
- Coordinate internal and external meetings including scheduling, agenda preparation, meeting minutes preparation, tracking action items and follow up.
- Coordinate scheduling, conduct and follow-up for Team events such as Industry Alliance Program Investor Days, Manufacturing Network Symposia, Manufacturing Network Coordinating Committee meetings, etc.
- Responsible for administrative support for the Sr. Director of Business Development including but not limited to calendaring, scheduling meetings, travel arrangements, lodging, and meal arrangements; and preparing travel and other expense claims in accordance with reimbursement requirements.
- Collaborate and frequently communicate with other CIRM teams to harmonize procedures and resource allocation as needed.
- Participate in the Grants Management System development process to ensure proper design and implementation of new web-based applications, forms, and user interfaces.
- Assist in the generation and collection of materials related to the Team goals and annual budget preparation.
- Develop, track, and reconcile budget for the Team’s activities. Assist Team members in travel, meeting registration, subscriptions and purchases.
- Coordinate travel, invoices and payments for advisors and consultants.
