Description:
A primary goal for this project is to engage and leverage community extension to implement evidence-based strategies for food and nutrition security, safe and accessible physical activity, family healthy weight programs, and early care and education settings. The Evaluator position’s primary purpose is to assist Principal Investigators in the planning and evaluation of programming implemented across 10 counties. The 12-month EHRA position (1.0 FTE) will be located in the Department of Agricultural and Human Sciences at NC State University. The individual will work closely with the PI team, external evaluation team, Project Coordinators, and county-level staff to prepare evaluation plans, collect data, develop databases and tools used for data collection, engage in scientific publication of project findings, and prepare written reports for the project team, community, and funder.
Essential job duties for the Evaluator include, but are not limited to:
- Assess, revise, and maintain a logic model representative of project activities throughout its lifespan
- In collaboration with the PI team, develop and revise yearly work plans for each strategy area and the larger project using CDC-provided templates
- Become intimately familiar with the CDC-required project milestones and performance measures, review work plan tasks to ensure alignment across project activities
- Support and supervise staff in the collection of county-level quantitative and qualitative data, including analysis and reporting of collected data to support the project team’s ability to understand trends, barriers, and successes of project activities
- Identify and maintain a database of appropriate data collection instruments/tools and analytical techniques, including those required by the CDC
- Coordinate and facilitate the evaluation of the programs
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry from multiple data sources into NC State databases and CDE program reporting templates
- Implement quality controls (such as log files, spot checks, double entry, and supplemental reviews) to ensure data validity and reliability at all stages of data management and evaluation
- Perform standard cleaning and statistical procedures to ensure that data stored in NC State data systems are ready for analysis
- Run organized, formatted, and easily understandable reports from multiple databases to address the critical and required reporting needs between NC State and CDC. Such reports may include, but are not limited to a listing of all data requests received, a listing of data sources used by this project, and a listing of performance measures for this grant.
- Create and share monthly reports of project activities across strategy areas with the project team
- Work in collaboration with the Project Coordinators and communication team to produce at least two monthly messages designed for partners and the public
- Create and implement internal data management plans.
