The Project Engineer is highly adaptable and manages three to five projects at a time from project conception to developing the capital budgeting plan and all the way through to the final baton pass to those responsible in Operations—true cradle to grave responsibility! You are the Key Point Person and Project Manager, leading and running meetings, getting cross functional teams involved, engaging with outside vendors, and carrying your projects through to their ultimate completion and close. You are in charge of making things happen that improve operational efficiency, add new technology and processes, and overall help the company make world-class products for the best possible driving experience! Specifically, the Project Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, and directing capital engineering projects for both the assigned manufacturing facility and on a company-wide basis. You will be responsible for overseeing engineering projects ensuring they are completed on schedule, within budget, and within project specifications. You will have excellent and well-developed communication skills, be agile and flexible to the changing needs of the organization and, importantly, have deep Project Management Skills. Project Management Professional certification and AutoCAD experience would be a real plus!
Key Accountabilities
- “Cradle to Grave” responsibility for all assigned projects while actively working with all key stakeholders toensure the project is delivered on time and within budget.
- Following HW’s well defined project implementation process and getting things done.
- Effectively handle three to five projects simultaneously and being flexible and adaptable throughout the implementation process.
- Creating project scope document, return on investment (ROI), budget, timeline to deliver the project with excellence.
- Staying involved with all the stakeholders, managing and completing action items, and confirming the ROI.
- Continuously improving the company’s Project Management Process by performing root cause analysis of productivity problems and make recommendations to improve plant productivity and efficiency.
- Apply engineering principles to design, modify, or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes used in manufacturing products.
- Determine feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing equipment considering costs, available space, time limitations, company strategic goals and plans, and other technical and economic factors.
- Perform statistical analysis of blending, packaging, and blow molding operations.
- Adhere to established company values, practices, policies, and procedures at all times.
Required Skills, Qualifications and Motivations
- Three to five years of previous Project Engineering responsibilities in a fast moving, consumer good manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline is preferred, but Associates in a related field with equivalent industry experience will be considered.
- Understand mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and interpret related engineering drawings and schematics.
- Accurately estimate engineering time, material, costs, and resources required for proposed projects.
- Effectively and respectfully communicate with co-workers, team members, and internal and external customers. Read, analyze, and interpret common trade publications.
- Understand written instruction and complete appropriate documentation as directed.
- Pay attention to details and pursue quality in accomplishing work duties and tasks. Look for opportunities to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness.
- Work in a cooperative manner with management, co-workers, internal/external customers, and vendors.
- Project Planning software (Monday.com, Adobe Workfront), AutoCAD, MS Project or other PM software experience is preferred.
